29 Species of Orchids are Protected in Indonesia

Indonesia is a country with a population of animals and plants are very diverse. The potential is supported by the vast Indonesian forests. Even Indonesia's forests are the lungs of the world second only to the Amazon Jungle in Brazil.

In the world there are about twenty-six thousand species of orchid. Of this amount, approximately five to six thousand species found in Indonesia. Most of these species can only be found in Indonesia as a rare orchid species and can not be found in other parts of the world.

However, because of irresponsible human activities, some of the rare orchids endangered. Indonesian Government released twenty-nine species of rare orchids are protected in Indonesia. This is described in the Government Regulation No. 7 of 1999 concerning Pickling Plants and Animals. These species are protected because of the fewer number, but it is also to help the Government program that seeks to preserve rare orchids in Indonesia.

Here are the names of rare orchid species are protected in Indonesia:

1. Ascocentrum miniatum 

2. Coelogyne pandurata (Black Orchid)

3. Corybas fornicatus 

4. Hartinahianum Cymbidium ( orchid Hartline )

5. Dendrobium catinecloesum (Orchid Arawakan )

6. Dendrobium d' albertisii (Orchid Albert )

7. Dendrobium lasianthera (Orchid stuberi )

8. Dendrobium macrophyllum (Orchid emerald )

9. Dendrobium ostrinoglossum (Orchid karawai )

10. Dendrobium Phalaenopsis (Orchid Larat )

11. Grammatophyllum papuanum ( giant orchid Irian )

       

12. Grammatophyllum speciosum ( cane orchids )

13. Macodes petola (Orchid ki characters)

14. Paphiopedilum chamberlainianum (Orchid shoe mustache )

15. Paphiopedilum glaucophyllum (Orchid feathered sandals )

16. Paphiopedilum praestans (Orchid shoe ribbons )

17. Paraphalaenopsis denevei ( months Star Orchid )

So let's protect nature for the survival of rare plants on earth, the earth in order to create a beautiful, comfortable, and safe. So that future generations can still enjoy the beauty of nature with a wonderful variety of plant species. Let's eradicate poaching and forest fires that orchids do not be history someday, SINCE EXTINCT.
